At long last, it has returned! That’s what most players said when they saw this news. And here’s the thing: Valve has finally added an updated and slightly reworked “Train” map to the game, but besides that, they’ve added a lot of other interesting stuff to the game!
So, let’s find out together what’s new in the game!

In article you will find:
Welcome Back, Train!

Certainly, let’s talk about the incredible news for many. The news is that the old “Train” map is back in the game and is now available to play. The map designers and creators not only reworked the map for the new CS2 but also added many interesting innovations.
One of the most important features of the map is rain. Yes, Valve dared to add weather conditions to the map, namely active rain, which covers your weapon with drops and, therefore, visually changes the skins significantly. It looks very cool, especially in combination with the lighting mechanics in CS2.
The only question remains whether this rain will harm players with weak hardware. After all, many players already play with a not-very-high FPS, and during the rain, it can be very low. So it’s just a matter of testing and time, and we will definitely try to answer this question later.
Not only were the weather conditions on the map changed, but some positions were also altered. For instance, the up-down area was modified, and several intriguing positions players can now jump on were added.
The trains’ location has also been changed, so players accustomed to the old map will need to adapt a bit and understand how to play on this new map. However, an interesting fact is that now, all the carriages have different colors on the minimap, allowing players to understand their positioning on the map better.
We can already imagine players shouting in the voice chat: “Behind the blue one! Behind the blue one!
Four New Maps in CS2

In addition to Train, new maps were added to the game you haven’t seen before! Namely: Palais, Basalt, Edin, and Whistle.
- Basalt is a new and very harmonious map. It’s so beautiful and carefree, it would be great just to relax there, and not all these shootouts of yours. The map itself is located on the shores of Iceland, so on the map you will see incredibly beautiful mountains, this slightly cool but still summer atmosphere, and a classic red house where the whole community gathers in the evening for a cup of hot chocolate! We hope you like the map as much as we do.
- Regarding Edin, it’s a small map located right in the very center of the city, where you can go into various shops, buy some jewelry, and enjoy drinks. Suppose the opponent doesn’t kill you while you’re chilling. The map is quite pretty, but it lacks a little light. It’s as if it was made on a cloudy day, but the sky is clear. It’s hard to explain, but overall the map is very beautiful and interesting.
- Palais is a French map, or rather, a very detailed, small French map. You start your game on the upper floors of an old house that is part of an art gallery, surrounded by paintings, flowers, and danger. The map is a bit reminiscent of Vertigo because here, you can also fall from a height and die.
- Whistle is a small railway station that has been attacked by terrorists who want to blow it up. Generally, Whistle is another small but very cute map dominated by green and brown colors. The autumn period and bright yellow leaves create a special atmosphere. Here, you can enjoy the game and admire the autumn beauty to the fullest!
You can learn more about them in the game, so make sure to update the game right after you finish reading this.
But as you can see in the pic, there’s another map – Overpass, so let’s chat about it in more detail below!

Overpass Reworked?
Now, let’s talk about the Overpass changes. Valve didn’t change the map much, but they worked well on its lighting. The map is brighter, and all the dark areas on the map are better lit. Now, you will definitely see the enemy hiding in a dark corner.
The most noticeable change is that the developers removed the water from the passage from terrorists to the B bombsite. Currently, the water mechanics are a bit heavy and cause a big loss of FPS especially on Ancient.
Below is a comment from one of the map developers.
To Sum Up!
Valve continues to delight players and fix their old mistakes. It’s truly inspiring and shows that they really value their game and the opinions of their users. So, this update turned out to be really cool and incredibly interesting. Hurry up, update the game, and see these amazing new maps yourself!
